The UNESCO subak terraces, a hidden waterfall, and the cool lake country above Bedugul.
The day itself.
A day spent almost entirely above eight hundred metres, where the rice gives way to clove and coffee and the air drops about six degrees. Bring a layer; people never expect to need one in Bali.
Leke-Leke opens the day: a slim single fall at the end of a flat fifteen minute path through bamboo, and usually about six other people there. Then Jatiluwih, six hundred hectares of terrace still irrigated by the thousand-year-old subak system UNESCO listed in 2012. It is what Tegallalang looks like without the swings.
The afternoon runs the lake road. Ulun Danu Beratan sits out on the water, the Handara gate frames the mountains behind it, and the Wanagiri viewpoints look straight down onto Buyan and Tamblingan, twin lakes in one old caldera with a strip of forest between them.

Hotel pickup
It is around two hours up to Leke-Leke from the south, less from Ubud.

Leke-Leke waterfall
Flat fifteen minute path through bamboo. Shallow pool, cold water, rarely busy.

Jatiluwih rice terrace
There is a walking route through the middle of the terrace that most visitors skip. Take it if you have the legs.

Beratan Lake and its temple
The temple on the fifty thousand rupiah note. Mist usually comes down over the water in the afternoon.
